Ryan Brimer - Director of Aquatics (Roadrunner Elite)
Ryan joined Roadrunner Aquatics in August 2024 after competing at CSUB for the men's swim team for 5 years. He formally held the record in the 100,200 free long course for Roadrunner and the 200 free short course for CSUB. He still holds the records for the 200 Medley and 400 free relay for CSUB. He also coached swim lessons and age groups at Canyons for multiple years. Additionally taught learn to swim at Roadrunner for multiple years while going to school at CSUB. Ryan has his BS in Economics and Supply Chain Logistics from CSUB.

 Cristian Serrato - Head Age Group Coach (Pre-Elite)

Coach Cristian has been a staple in the Bakersfield swimming community for over a decade. He has coached multiple Junior Olympic, SWAGR, and Far Western champions, and has developed both Senior and Age Group Zone team members. Cristian’s swimmers have ranked in the national top-10 for their age group and have qualified for high-level meets including Winter Sectionals and Junior Nationals.

In addition to his club coaching background, Cristian brings a wide range of experience from all levels of the sport. He has coached at the collegiate and high school levels, expanding his impact on swimmer development across different age groups and competitive stages. Cristian has also worked with USA Swimming’s Age Group Zone teams and has coached at Fitter and Faster swim camps, contributing to the development of swimmers throughout the region.

Cristian currently oversees the development of our age group swimmers, preparing them for success at the senior swimming level. He also serves as an athletic director, bringing his leadership and organizational skills to all or our programs. Cristian holds a Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with a concentration in Exercise Science from California State University, Bakersfield, and is currently pursuing his Master’s degree.

Christian Chau (Blue - Group 2)
Coach Christian Chau has been immersed in the world of competitive swimming since the age of 7, with a swim career spanning 14 years. He was one of the original swimmers in the elite group at Roadrunner Aquatics when the program first launched, helping lay the foundation for its early success.

As a high school swimmer, Christian was a proud member of the Frontier High School team and was part of the historic squad that captured the school’s first league championship in  2015. He continued his swimming career into college, specializing in the 500 Freestyle, 400 Individual Medley, and 200 Butterfly—challenging events that showcase both endurance and technique.
Christian began coaching in 2016 and brings nearly a decade of experience to the pool deck. He has coached at East Bakersfield, Highland, and Mira Monte High Schools, spending four years developing swimmers across all levels. One of his proudest coaching accomplishments was helping lead the East High girls’ team to a league title in 2019. He recently earned his Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with a focus on Education from California State University, Bakersfield.

​Beyond stroke mechanics, Coach Christian is passionate about building strong team culture, developing young leaders, and preparing student-athletes for life after high school—whether that's in college, on deck, or in the classroom.

Elle Armstrong (Group 3/KSC Summer Team Lead Coach)
Coach Elle has been involved in the world of swimming since she was 5 years old, spending 12 years as a competitive swimmer and building a strong background in both sprint and distance events. Her favorite races were the 100 Backstroke and 200 Freestyle, where she combined technique, endurance, and strategy. Over the years, she developed a deep love for the sport and a solid understanding of what it takes to succeed in and out of the pool.

Elle started coaching in 2021 and has spent the past four years working with swimmers of all ages and skill levels. She focuses on helping athletes improve their technique, gain confidence, and have fun while pushing themselves to grow. One of her favorite parts of coaching is getting to help young swimmers develop their skills in a sport that has meant so much to her.

​She’s currently studying psychology with an interest in education, and brings that insight into her coaching—always encouraging her swimmers to stay mentally strong and work as a team. Whether she’s on deck or in the classroom, Elle is passionate about helping athletes grow into confident, motivated, and well-rounded individuals.

Dr. Sandra Harrell (Runner - Group 1)Dr. Sandra Harrell is a former 5-time NCAA All-American swimmer and a 2-time pool record holder at UC San Diego.

Originally from Los Angeles, she earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a minor in music from University of California, San Diego. She went on to receive her Master of Science in Exercise Science & Health Promotion from Pennsylvania Western University and earned her Doctorate in Physical Therapy from University of California, San Francisco with distinction and received the Distinguished Achievement Award for Academic Excellence. After her doctoral studies, she became a published academic author in the Physical Therapy & Rehabilitation Journal. She was certified by the National Academy of Sports Medicine and is currently a board-certified licensed physiotherapist. ​

Dr. Sandra is a performance and injury prevention specialist who trains and treats various sports and orthopedic conditions ranging from youth to professional swimmers and Ironman triathletes for injury management, recovery, injury prevention, and performance. She currently co-owns The Performance Lab in Bakersfield, CA. Her performance facility is set to open to the public in Summer 2025.
