Runner Group (Group 1)
MON, WED, FRI 5:00 - 6:00 PM
This group is our introduction to competitive swimming where swimmers will be taught proper technique across all four strokes. At this point in a swimmer’s development, meets are completely optional and should only be attended if the swimmer is asking to compete. In addition to learning the competitive strokes, there will be an emphasis placed on developing the athlete’s kick and having fun in the water. This group will be composed of mainly swimmers under 10 years old, although older swimmers with little exposure to competitive swimmers may spend some time in the group learning strokes.
Required Equipment: Kickboard.
Monthly fee: $70

Swimmers will also begin to learn how to read a pace clock. Practices will be centered on stroke technique development, but swimmers will also be introduced to aerobic training. Kicking will remain important. Swimmers are encouraged to attend A/B/C meets on our schedule and the summer recreation meet. Qualifying swimmers should attend the Junior Olympics. The group will be composed primarily of swimmers ages 7-10, although on occasion older swimmers will remain in the group to continue their development before moving on.
